A bottle in the sea, a bottle in the cellar, the travelling wine
William Jonquères d'Oriola, owner of Château de Corneilla del Vercol in the Roussillon region, is carrying out his crazy project: taking his wine around the world by boat to compare its ageing process with that on dry land.
This will provide a tasting experience never seen before. This experience was made with an essential partner for the adventure: Le Petit Ballon (wine sales on the Internet).
The experience Thus, William Jonquères d'Oriola took half a vintage on a boat around the world. Leaving Roussillon for Le Havre, passing through the Suez Canal, Reunion Island, Australia, Asia, India, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean and then back to Le Havre, this wine from the Jonquères d'Oriola estate crossed the oceans for 100 days.
The other half of the cuvée was aged during the same period in the cellars of Corneilla del Vercol. "After reading a legend that said that wines improve after a sea crossing, I wanted to verify this by making two different maturings for the same wine: at sea and on land. I then contacted Le Petit Ballon, which was already distributing my wine, to see if they wanted to follow me in this adventure.
They immediately accepted thanks to their open-mindedness and the desire to move the lines that we have in common. "William Jonquères d'Oriola, winemaker.
